Frequently Asked Questions
Counselling can be beneficial to anyone.
Your counsellor should work with you to help identify areas you would like to focus on whether they be large stressors or something that seems smaller but you just want a safe space to talk things through. Counselling can be challenging at times but we can all benefit from having support as we journey through life working to become the best versions of ourselves.
Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) are specifically trained to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. RCCs work with many kinds of people: individuals, couples, and families in individual and group settings. Clinical counselling is typically sought when a person experiences challenging situations, thoughts, feelings, or circumstances. (https://bcacc.ca)
Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) is a protected title and focuses on individuals. It identifies to the public those counsellors who satisfy CCPA’s entry-to-practice competency standards. Certification represents a successful evaluation of a member’s qualification to practice, membership does not. In order to be certified, counsellors must meet certain levels of education and training in counselling, they must follow the code of ethics and corresponding standards of practice, and they are held accountable to show competent and ethical performance in practice. Following your session you will receive an invoice. This can be paid by e-transfer or credit card. Once payment is received a receipt will be issued. The receipt can be submitted to your insurance provider. If you are concerned about coverage for counselling, please contact your insurance provider prior to booking.
We are now also starting to offer direct insurance billing for insurers who support this.
We never want financial constraints to be a barrier to counselling. Please contact Erin directly to discuss sessions offered at a reduced rate.
Many extended health benefits cover mental health services provided by RCCs and CCCs. It is important to check with your specific provider to confirm coverage details.
We are now starting to offer direct insurance billing for insurers who support this. You will be prompted to add your insurance information when completing your intake form. If this is something you are interested in adding and did not receive a new form, please reach out and we will send you a form for you to provide your insurance details. I am starting to implement direct billing for those who have extended health benefits.
Please note that direct billing is something that is not currently supported by all providers. I will do my best to streamline this process as much as I can; however, please be aware that some clients may still need to pay for their full session and continue to submit to their insurance providers. Thank you!
You can book directly through Erin’s Jane page by clicking the “Book Now” link at the top right corner of the page. You can also contact Erin directly through the contact information below.
A minimum of 24 hours notice is requested for cancellation of an appointment. The first missed appointment is billed at 50% of the session fee. Any future missed appointments are billed at 100% of the session fee. Any missed or late cancelled appointments are spaces that could have been filled by another client. We know some things are out of our control so if there are any concerns please contact your counsellor directly to discuss.
Counselling is unique for each individual. You will work with your counsellor to determine what you want to work on and to identify any goals you have for your sessions. Your counsellor will work with you to help you get the most out of each session.
